The best that I can say "about us" is that we are constantly evolving, changing & moving within the shop.

Opening Pocketful of Poseys has been one of the most exciting times of my life.

There is never a dull moment when you own your own business.

We have made so many wonderful friends during this past 12 years. We have also lost many dear friends (and loved ones of dear friends) along the way - that's the hard part of this business.

The easy part is helping you create beautiful quilts, clothing, wallhangings, purses - or whatever your heart desires.

It was love at first sight for me the first time I visited Fredericksburg, Texas. I was born and raised in New Roads, Louisiana, but by age 20, wanderlust set into my bloodstream and off I went. My first major move - out of state - was to Juneau, Alaska then Hilo, Hawaii. As much as I loved living in both of these beautiful cities, I didn't like being so far away from family. So, at age 47, I came to Texas - visited Fredericksburg and never wanted to leave. And here I am - loving every minute of my life here.

My sister, Betty (who helps me run the shop) also lives here. She learned to sew at age 70 - so don't ever say "I am too old". Her oldest son with his wife and children, as well as a family friend whom we refer to as our nephew, were all living here when we moved here. What more could we ask for - a wonderful business, some of our loving family close by, terrific friends. We are truly blessed.

I've always loved helping others to learn. I've always loved fabrics, books and flowers. And by the grace of God and through Jesus Christ and quite a few good friends and relatives who help me out - I am the proud owner of Pocketful of Poseys - a quilting fabric shop filled with lucious fabrics & great quilting books that we can use to help and teach others to make beautiful quilts.

What more could I ask for? Oh yes, we have awesome customers - most of them quite talented when it comes to quiltmaking.

My 4 inside kitties turned 2 on May 22, 2011 and Pocketful of Poseys turned 12 on June 19, 2011. And now I've added more kitty kats to the brood. I'm the neighborhood cat woman. The word is out in the creeks -- go to Cindy's - she has great food.

I truly love being in business. But it's not just about selling - it's about life - friends - learning - teaching - sharing. I have learned so much - about quilting and about "life". I am amazed when I think back on the beginning of how little I really knew about the world of making quilts and "about life" and how much more there is to learn.

I thank the Good Lord everyday for bringing me to this "place" in my life.

The shop is 4,000 square feet so there is plenty of space for you to be able to plan your quilt. We have a sitting area for the non-quilters.

We hope you will come by and visit us. You may come in as a stranger, but I guarantee that you will leave as a friend. Also, everyone gets a free pin cushion (lovingly made by our shop angel - Ms. Irene).

Well, this is only a small part of our "about us" page. We, well, mostly my sister (she's the real cajun) love to "talk story" so come visit and find out "more of the story".
