I've always loved helping others to learn. I've always loved fabrics, books and flowers. And by the grace of God and through Jesus Christ - I am the proud owner of Pocketful of Poseys - a quilting fabric shop filled with lucious floral prints and more and great quilting books that we can use to help and teach others to make beautiful quilts.

What more could I ask for? Oh yes, we have awesome customers - most of them quite talented when it comes to quiltmaking.

It was love at first sight for me the first time I visited Fredericksburg, Texas. I was born and raised in New Roads, Louisiana, but by age 20, wunderlust set into my bloodstream and off I went. My first major move - out of state - was to Juneau, Alaska then Hilo, Hawaii. As much as I loved living in both of these beautiful cities, I missed being so far away from family. So,at age 47, I came to Texas - visited Fredericksburg and never wanted to leave. And here I am - loving every minute of my life here.

My sister, Betty (who helps me run the shop) also lives here. She learned to sew at age 70 - so don't ever say "I am too old". Her oldest son with his wife and children, as well as a family friend whom we refer to as our nephew, were all living here when we moved here. What more could we ask for - a wonderful business, some of our loving family close by, terrific friends. We are truly blessed.

On June 19, 2010 we celebrated 11 years in business. How exciting this is for us!

I truly love being in business. But it's not just about selling - it's about life - friends - learning - teaching - sharing. We have meet so many wonderful people and have learned so much - about quilting and about "life". I am amazed when I think back on the beginning of how little I really knew about the world of making quilts and "about life" and how much more there is to learn.

I thank the Good Lord everyday for bringing me to this "place" in my life.

Our inventory is not exceptionally large - but we have a lot to offer you.

We have a terrific selection of beautiful quilting fabrics - we try to find something for everyone's taste. We go from brights and novelties to westerns, batiks and thimbleberries. We also carry large floral prints and those new funky prints that look like designs from the 60's and 70's. We carry as much wide backing fabric as we can get hold of.

We stock some of the latest books, patterns and notions.

The shop is 4,000 square feet so there is plenty of space for you to be able to plan your quilt. We have a sitting area for the non-quilters. We always have plenty of cold water and good hot strong coffee (cajun style) or we'll make a fresh pot of coffee just for you.

We hope you will come by and visit us. You may come in as a stranger, but I guarantee that you will leave as a friend. Also, everyone gets a free pin cushion (lovingly made by our shop angel - Ms. Irene).

Well, this is only a small part of our "about us" page. We, well, mostly my sister (she's the real cajun) love to "talk story" so come visit and find out "more of the story".
